EPS Boxes | De Ridder Packaging

Our insulating boxes are made from EPS (Expanded Polystyrene), sometimes also referred to as styrofoam or tempex. EPS boxes are particularly suitable for the conditioned transport of goods. The thickness of the box will determine the insulation value: the thicker the EPS box wall, the more effectively it will insulate.

EPS boxes are highly insulating, shape-retaining and lightweight. EPS has a high impact resistance and can effectively absorb shocks. This ensures the product is also well protected during transport. Another advantage of EPS boxes is that the material is insensitive to UV radiation, moisture and mould. The EPS boxes’ sustainable material is 100% reusable and not harmful to health. EPS boxes are also inexpensive to purchase.

EPS box applications

The good insulating effect, combined with the insensitivity to moisture and the EPS boxes’ light material means EPS can be very extensively applied. Especially when you want to use the EPS boxes for transporting products.

EPS boxes are usually used for the one-way transport of fish, food, flowers, pharmaceutical products and medical products. EPS boxes are often used for transporting chilled or non-chilled medication within the pharmaceutical industry. EPS boxes are often used for transporting blood samples within the medical sector. This often happens in combination with cooling gel packs and absorption mats, in order to absorb any possible moisture released during transport. EPS boxes are also a standard product for transporting fish. EPS boxes with holes in the bottom, to allow any melt water to drain away, are often used when the fish needs to transported locally. If the fish is being transported by air, closed EPS boxes are generally combined with gel packs and absorption mats.

EPS boxes are often offered as part of a customised total solution. They are, for example, used in combination with a gel pack and absorption mat. Please refer to our total solutions for more information. EPS boxes are a standard choice for one-way transport. EPP boxes (expanded polypropylene) are generally used for return transport, rather than EPS boxes.
